This past summer, I planted some flowers around my vegetable garden. I was drawn to consistently pruning away the dead buds and by doing so, my flowers grew bigger and spread beautifully.
It's the same with everything in our lives, every so often we need to prune what's no longer blossoming or what we no longer have space for- both literally as in piles of things in our homes, and figuratively like beliefs and thoughts. January is the perfect time to take stock. The weather is colder, and for many, cold enough that you’re forced to be indoors. For everyone, the energy is more internal. There may even be a desire to hibernate. If you’re in full on hibernation mode, allow yourself to be there fully. If you have the energy, this is a great time to organize and let go of what no longer serves you. After you take down any holiday decorations you may have put up, what else can you release in the house? What piles or clutter take up constricting space? Let go of those now to bring in more spaciousness and allow new energy in. Energetically, what habits and beliefs no longer serve you? What have you put up with that you desire to change? Nothing needs to be the same, you can always make new choices. But you have to catch the ways you’ve fallen into old limiting patterns and behaviors. Rather than trying to change everything now because- Omg it’s a new year and it all has to happen immediately!!! -let go of that panic and hurry, and start gently by noticing and questioning. “Is this still true for me? Do I need this to be true or can I open to a new possibility outside my current paradigm? In the realm of infinite possibility, other realities exist. Can you open yourself to perceive them? Pruning now preps your inner soil for spring, when the energy of the new bursts forth. Thus, a great time to rid yourself of old clutter- externally and internally. Release what no longer brings you joy or matches the frequency of where you’re heading. Make room for your 2026 to blossom.
