Grounding during Chaos
Nothing tests your ability to ground like chaos!
There was so much chaos right before our trip. From a sick puppy, to the tailor screwing up my dress for the Wedding, to a bunch of other stressors. I did not always handle it well. Sometimes I melted down, and sometimes I was able to claim my power.
Chaos proceeds big changes. The bigger the change, the bigger the chaos. And it can be really hard to stay grounded in the midst of that tremendous chaos.
In those moments, breath is your friend: ideally a longer exhale than inhale to calm the body. As well as having some grounding or nervous system techniques that are your go-tos. It's about having multiple tools that can settle you, even if you have to use them all.
The other key is to slowwww things down.
It can be so hard when you're overwrought with a massive to-do list. But if you step back and take that moment to breathe and slow everything down by simply focusing on the next most important step, it will quell the overload and overwhelm and bring you back into empowered presence.
From that place, you can come back to center and make wise choices.
You may not do it perfectly; you may get swept up in the chaos. Yet every time you come back to yourself, you reclaim your power. And that’s everything.
