It’s the peak of summer which means, create time to relax and enjoy the season.
You’ll always have a myriad of things to-do, but remember when you were a kid, and a summer day could last forever? That’s because you were so present and in the moment with what sounded like fun. There were games to play, things to imagine, and the joy of simply being outdoors. You’re never too old or too busy to create a magical summertime experience. Even if only for a day. I just came back from the Midwest and had the pleasure of watching a couple of rainstorms during the day, and in the evenings, smiling at the fireflies. Take some time off and be. Read a book, daydream, find a hammock to take a nap; slow down. The more you slow down, the more you catch up to yourself energetically, while also experiencing the healing frequencies of the earth; something bodies love. Remind yourself: “I am valuable, even if I’m not doing anything.” “It’s safe for me to slow down, relax, and be unproductive.” “My worth is not based on my productivity. My worth is based on who I am.” “It’s good for me to have fun!” Summertime joy awaits, create it now.

Acceptance…
That’s a doozy, isn’t it?! Sometimes it’s the absolute hardest thing to do, and yet, it’s the thing that will release you. Ask yourself what you can actually be responsible for changing in yourself and your reality, and where you need to accept a person or situation for exactly as it is, versus fighting to change/fix it. Like the serenity prayer: (Substitute “God” for Universe, Source, Divinity, Goddess- whatever speaks to you) God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, The courage to change the things I can, And wisdom to know the difference. When you stop fighting what is, and you accept it for what it is, you can find your freedom. Not what you hope it will be, not what you wish it would be, simply acceptance of what is. Yeah, I get it- easier said than done sometimes! And I’m not saying roll over in apathy or don’t work to create a different outcome. You need the discernment to know what you need to accept and what you need to change. Ask yourself what color you think acceptance is. There are no wrong answers. Right now, think of what color you think acceptance is. Think of a situation or person in your personal life that you’re having a really hard time accepting. Imagine flowing that color into that situation or person. You’re not flowing it to change them, because they may not change. You’re flowing it to change your perception of them and where the lack of acceptance is holding you prisoner in your reality. Once that’s complete, ask yourself what you most need, beyond acceptance. Maybe it’s rest, maybe it’s creative time, maybe it’s being out in nature or exercising, or maybe, it’s the strength and courage to take action to heal the situation or relationship. After all, nothing changes until you do. Accept that. Freedom… it’s certainly been up for debate recently, hasn’t it?
And yet, in this country, we have the freedom to debate freedom. That’s a gift. Many in the world don’t have that luxury. As I’ve reminded you before, you’re both only as free as you allow yourself to be, and as those around you are. What do I mean by that? We each create our own individual reality, and simultaneously, we’re part of the whole. If you take away the freedom of some, it negatively impacts and diminishes the energy of freedom for the whole. When external freedom and choice is limited or taken away, internal freedom of choice becomes even more necessary and powerful. If you want to see more freedom in the world for everyone, start with yourself. Release yourself from your limiting beliefs, thoughts, and feelings. Notice where you constrict yourself and choose greater freedom instead. Ask yourself, “Does this belief/thought serve my highest freedom or not?” If not, make a new choice. You have the freedom in every minute as to how you respond, how you act, and what you focus on. You’re free to choose if you show up in love, or in hate. In compassion, or in judgment. In acceptance, or in rejection. To be truly free, you need to free yourself from your internal prisons so that you can bring more of your light into the world. The world needs the ever-lifting energy of freedom. Together, let’s imagine that expansive energy sweeping through our personal realities and the world as a whole, transforming darkness into light. |
